It is estimated that fully 1,000 persons witnessed the exhibition, which, altogether, was characterised as being tbe finest thing of the kind, by long odds, ever given here. Iu tbe firet division, walking plow, for persons under 25 years of age, there were eight entries. In the second division. Sulky plows, there w.:re three entries tbe Weir, the Garden City Clipper, and the Morrison. In tbo third division, Sweepstakes, there were twelve contestants. con-testants. In consequence of the excellent machines entered, and the unusual skill displayed by the oontestauts, tbe committee appointed to make tbe award bad been unable to decide up to a late hour lest night. There never was a finer exhibition of the j kind, and there are so many nice and close distinctions, both with regard to the machines and those guiding tbem, that it will be found difficult to settle tbe several questions that will arise in weighing the peculiar and admirable feature of the whole affair. |
