Editors Herald: Please publish the following statement state-ment in your valuable paper : Some six weeks ago a snow slide happened to sweep into eternity six unfortunate men who were breaking road to the Richmond mine, Big Cottonwood less than one-half of wnich is owned by Taylor & Cutler, the balance being owned by non-Mormons. non-Mormons. On learning tho tact we telegraphed to the foreman to do all lie possibly could lo recover the bodies, and with some little assistance from others Lie Richmond company worked for ten days at a cost of near one thousand dollars, at the momentary momen-tary risk of the lives of brave, - good men. We gave up because men would no longer work at it. l We sent word to the families that if could do for them in the shape of supplying food, clothing, money or employment, we were ready to assist them; and we will here state that each of thtse families availed themselves of our offer of food, clothing, cloth-ing, money and employment to the amount of 3 100, and in each instance have wc told the parties that if they needed anything moro to come and we would help them. We ask our friends to excuse us for making the foregoing explanation, but we are constantly assiiled by a certain disreputable sheet ol this city, and we believe the principal object is to justify the owners of a certain mine (whose names they are ever making prominent) in hiring perjured villians lo swear and rob us of our property ifthey can. Respectfully, Taylou & Cutler. |
