Show The Race aud Walk. Mr. W. V. Smith will to-day, ride fifty miles on t;u horses witbiu two hours and Gvt minutes, for a Durap. oi $.iUU. The gemleruan is the acknowledged acknowl-edged champion longdistance rider of the world, and the exhibition given by him last Friday, though a failure, proved that his claim to the title was uot without ground, Mr. OJdy will, at the conclusion of the race, uudertane to walk seven miles in an hour, in an attempt to par form which feat last Friday he alao failed If tbe weather remains fine and the track id in proper condition, con-dition, there is little doub', that both genllemeu will prove themselves equal to their difficult undrtitiojs. Mr. Smith has leased the track from the Driving Park association, which will have nothing to do with this race. The public must understand that tbe mile track has been measured and proves to be twenty-two feet and nine inches more th;in a mile around, which will make considerable difference to both gentlemen. Admission Ad-mission is 50c. Spongers are invited to remain away, and thus save themselves them-selves the pain of a rebuff. |
