During tbe corresponding period in 187S, there were 3,355 failures in tbe United States, with liabilities amounting to$82,07K,826, and for tbe three months in 1S77 there were 2.869 failures with liabilities of $54,-538,070. $54,-538,070. The Commercial Bulletin notes the decrease from the first quarter last year as another healthful sign denoting denot-ing an improvement in the buBinesB situation.
