Cue-jp teachers, though, were not those who received the lowest low-est salaries, but were those btst capable capa-ble ol conducting schools. Only these should be employed, for they alone wore cheap teachers, no matter how high their Balarics. Miaa K. L. Hey wood then gave a practical illustration of her method of instruction in penmanship. This embraced an iplanation of the elements ele-ments of writing, the best manner of making letters, etc., the young lady demonstrating the utility of the leseon by exercising a class ofeoiall students brought from her school, who manifested mani-fested an aptness that spoke well for the method and its advocator. The programme exercises of the day concluded by a lecture on drawing, draw-ing, by Mr. Horace Cummings. The gentleman confined bimeelf more particularly to the elements of the art, how they could be applied in school, and gavo illustrations of the method be considered to be the beet for the purposes intended. A suggestion was then made by Dr. Park, that would be - productive of good and add life and interest to the society, to indulge in general remarks re-marks on the various methods presented pre-sented to the members of the association, associa-tion, with a view to determining the best. A programme for the next meeling was presented, and the association adjourned till Saturday, at the same place. The hour of meeting was changed from 11 o'clock a.m. to 1 p.m. |
