Journal's Washington Washing-ton : Democrats to-day indicate that thc-y will abandon the foolish project of presenting a joint addreas to the President, answering his recent veto. They concluded that nothing would be gained by it, and the country would regard the proceeding as ridiculous. It is proposed to draw up another Dili to steer clear of the President's objections objec-tions and present it next week. It is understood that General Filz John Porter's friends have concluded not to get a bill to restore him to tbs army through congress this aession, but to wait until December, when it is hoped and believed the President will recommend his case favorably to congress. |
