Show The Io!tr Committee. New Orleans, 31. The Potter subcommittee sub-committee met this morning. There were present Hon. Ciarksou N. Potter, Pot-ter, chairman, aud ex-Governor Cox. Oscar Arrays, eceretary of Btat?, produced pro-duced the records of his office relating to tho election ot 187G. P. G. Des-ter.de, Des-ter.de, secretary of state under Kellogg, Kel-logg, testified to affixing the signature to the first set of republican electoral : certificates. He signed it on Decern ber Gih. Did not recollect signing any second set dunrg Chris'mue seek. Other testimony of liitie novelty was given and then Messrs. Raymond, Lloud and Moloney, clerks in the carpet house here, testified tc having found in their store, S;'ptembo 19th, a bundle of documents left there by aud addressed to Mrs. Agun Jcnks. These documents were produced pro-duced before tho committee. Tht most important was one purporting U ho Llin Hllppnd nrifinal "ShprmMn" letter. Chairman Potter made r statement to tho prC33 to the efiec' that these documents bad beer dropped by Mrs. Jenks fur the purpose pur-pose of imposing upon the committee. Ho declared that the sd called copy o. iho Sherman letter wag a forgery Committee adjourned. |
