Show CRUSHED TO DEATH. Another name has been added to the long list of King Alcohol's victims; vic-tims; another horribly mangled and killed-haman being is the result of whisky-drinking. About five o'clock last ovening one of thoso sad events which send a thrill of horror through one a fatal railroad accident occurred oc-curred at Sandy Btation on tho Utah Southern. Conductor William His-kcy, His-kcy, of the freight train, and some of j the road employes, who were engaged ; 111 "kickinR"abox car on a side track, run over a drunken man, name unknown. un-known. The box car, the tender and the bind drivers of the engine passed over the man's legs, crushing tho ' bones and tearing and m angling the flesh. Mr. Hiskey saw the man lying ly-ing on tho track when the ear was only a few feet from him, but the engine could not bo stopped in time The deceased was drunk aud sound, asleep, so much so that he made no noiso, and apparently did not sutler pain when the cars were passing over him. When he was picked up life was not extinct, though the man could not speak nor did he till his death, which occurred about an hour later on the train, which brought him to the city. The roinains were laken to the sexton's.and last evening Coroner Taylor and a jury held an inquest on the body, returning a verdict in accordance ac-cordance with tho abovo facts. Ho was first noticed at Sandy about 9 o'clock Friday Fri-day night, when he was under the influence of liquor. All day yesterday yester-day he was stupidly drunk, and was lounging about the town with no apparent ap-parent business. He had evidently been working in coal, his clothes and faeo being blackened with coal dust. On his person nothing was found which would indicate his name or residence. re-sidence.
