Show Nuisances. This city has the name of being one of the cleanest towns in tho United States, and it well deserves the high encomium, for here there aro few or none of those disgusting and unhealthy un-healthy nuisances which are too often found in other places of this magnitude magni-tude and population, But still there arc many improvements whlph must be made before this city can be called strictly clean. One nuisance to which wo wish lo direct attention is that of digging drain ditches bom kitchens into the streets, and permitting the slops to run on the sidewalks and into the water sees. There arc several of such nuisances, and in the public parts of the city where hundreds of people are , compelled to cross them daily and iu-. iu-. hale the fetid vapors arising there from, U, instead of permitting the filthy slops to nn nlo the slreit ,'h y were poural into holts dug for the purpose and properly covered, many unhealihy nuisances would bo abated. |
