The following members mem-bers ol the advisory board of the South Pass jetties are here and will leave with Captain Eadea this evening to examine the improvement now in progress at the South west pass at tho mouth of the Mississippi: Sir Charles Hartley, engineer of the Danube jettie; General J. G. Barnard, of the United States engineer corp; H. D. Whitconib, engineer of the James river, Virginia, improvements; Win. Roberts, engineer of the Northern Pacific railway. Other members of the board consisting of Generals G. 8. Alexander, of tho United States engineer en-gineer corps, T. E. Sickles, engineer of the Union Pacific railway, and Proietsor Mitchell, ol the United States coast survey, are expected to arrive in time to leave with the rest of the parly. Tho hoard will be joined at New Orleans by an official of the Russian Rovornment who is engaged as examining chief cngineur of the works of this country. |
