Dear President Yuiimj: The Mormons are among the crusaders. cru-saders. No drunkards, no. gamblers, no houses of prostitution, no jails, no almshouses stain their record. The Gentiles came after you made the desert blossom as the roso, and to appease ap-pease them you licensed grog-shops. Wo want you to close them. We are not polygamies -although you have Bible authority for your creed, yet we' admire your moral life. No scrofulous scrofu-lous ' children, no fearful diseases destroy your offspring; but this licensing Gentile rum-shops prove? that you are compromising your noble temperance programme, and undermining under-mining the moral base of your people. We arc rejoiced to know that you jive water instead of wine at the eac-nwnent; eac-nwnent; but we aro afraid that you ' take alcoholic medicines? Right in ' the one, wrong in tho other. Total ' abstinence is the only safe plan. Il ao pained us to learn that drupken-" drupken-" ncsy THE HAD HABIT Ol" THL GENTILES Had at last found -a home in Salt Lake, and it is no excuso for you to say it is only among the Gcntilos when you give them licenses. You who will allow women to vote, and wear clothes made in Utah factories, from wool and cotton grown in Utah, should writo us a grand letter saying that Brigham Young is for total abstinence. ab-stinence. Our legislators and chris-tain chris-tain people are legal monogamists, but many aro practical polygam-ists. polygam-ists. That is why Congress is trying to break up your government and destroy your people Join the Cru-i saders and twenty millions will stand by you.
