Show A report from Washington, said to be founded on the highest authority, author-ity, Bays that Gen. Grant will shortly announce his determination not to be a candidate for re-election to the presidency, and that he woulddecline a nomination were it tendered to him by a convention. He might have made this announcement months ago and saved a vast deal of speculation specula-tion and pothor. It is probable that the October elections have had a healthy influonce in bringing him to a partial par-tial sense of the unpoDuIarity of the present Administration, and the danger of any farther attempt to impose im-pose his dynasty upon the country. |
