Show St. Mark'9 School Examination-Tne Examination-Tne examination of St. Mark's school w.is progressing yesterday, and t'j-day a grand public examination will come oft, during which there will be music:d exercises under tlio direc- : lion of Mrs. Haydon, and prizes will 1 be distributed lo the head pupils in the departments. Tuo examination yesterday extended lo the second and third primary classes in arithmetic and United Slates history, in charge of Miss Cjle; the third primary in geography, taught by Miss Eilen Huey; tho first primary in reading, spelling and arithmetic, in caro of Miss Agnes Lynch; fourth grammar class, taught by Miss Inez Eirl; mathematics, English grammar anil j physical geography, by Miss Van' Renssalaer; and the Lttin and Greek class by Frof. J. M. Turner. Tne progress of the scholars seemed to be quite satisfactory; and judging from the energy displayed by the teachers, and the number of pupils, St. Mark's school is proving a success. Wo larn that Chas. Hough, who was for some time a pupil at St. Mark's school, has recently graduated in tho Union Kimball academy, of New Hampshire, being head in classics and second in tho academy. He is the son of Colonel Hough, formerly of Camp Douglas. Te-morrow morning, at half-past b'u, testimonials will bo presented to the graduating claes of tho normal school department, and the friends of the school aro invited to attend. |
