Show Red sit ins Routed. .New York, 22. Special to the Wojld: General Miles' Expedition, Captain Chaffee's command, thirty-five thirty-five miles southeast of Camp Supply, I. T., 19. A decided advantage has ibeen gained within the past few days over a band of hostile Kiowas, led by Red Otter. For some time previous to the 17th instant Captain Chaffee, with the 6th regiment of cavalry, of General Miles' command, had been in pursuit of this party, and en the date mentioned came unexpectedly upon them before they could make preparations for flight, and succeeded in capturing their entire camp, consisting con-sisting of tents, horses, blankets, etc. The Indians were greatly demoralized by the affair, and are fleeing in a southwesterly direction to-wards to-wards their agency in the southwest corner of Indian Territory, about fifty miles distant, between Washita River and north fork of the Red River. Pursuit of the fleeing Indians wits kept up and at last accounts the soldiers sol-diers were following the fugitive rapidly. |
