In tho upper levels stuping is going on ns usual, but witli a minted force. During the pust week little ore haa been shipped, it haviug been allowed to collect in the ore house. At tho mills and mine, there are altogether about 700 tons collected about GUO tons at the mills and about 100 tit the mine. It ia probable that the mills will resume crushing iu the comae of next week. Meadow Valluy. Xo. ; Sinking haa been resumed on the shall, and it is now a short distance below the point where the drill is started to connect con-nect with the Kaymond it Ely 3,2ihJ-foot 3,2ihJ-foot level. On the hist named level the station has been completed and the cross-cut started. When it intersects inter-sects the ledge, then a drill will be run following the le;ul up to the liay-niond liay-niond & Ely line. On the eleventh level the east drilt id in 1-1 feet and the western l'.U feet. The faces show quite a ledge, but little or no ore. The winze on the western drift of tho tenth level is sunk to the level of the eleventh, consequently the work is stopped. Ou the ninth tho eastern drift ia now in 741) foot, just about opposite op-posite to the Summit, or No. o shaft, with which a connection will he made. The slopes on tho western sideJook about the same, and the usual quantity of ore is being raided from them. ' Summit, or No. o Shaft. This is 1,030 feet deep, and the work of sink ing ia gome ou a& nsafd. At a depth of 1,002 feet from the surface a station sta-tion will be opened and connection ' made with the drift on the ninth level ) of Xo. 8. At the mills things aro going on as usual, with no change of any meineut to note. Washington and Creole. The shaft from the Ma.eppa works has reached, a depth of 700 feet, and about 140 leet more (o sink to connect con-nect with the lower level. It is being pushed forward aa rapidly as possible, pos-sible, and as the ground has haon favorable the progress has not beeu blow. Jn the lower level they aro drilling on tho line ufthe ledge east and west. The eastern drift is 11U feet and the western about fifty feet in length. Both the faces ahow good ore. Until tho conuecnon is made between the Mazeppa shaft aud the lower level only as much ore will be taken out as will be necessary u upn the workings. J'outund. The buporinteudeiiL, Mr. A. J. Bluir, has commenced shipping ore to the Newark, late Hie Amador mill, aud Ins, already scut ahouLuity tons. In the mine, the ore in the steppes leks well, and several sev-eral toiiri are buing raised daily. The cross-cut from the third or -ISO-loot station is in alwut 130 feet, aud there is probably fi fteen or twenty feet further to drilt to. reach the ledge. The appearance of the 'workings of his mine is very eucouragiug, and we certainly eipoct to rind that, ens very long, it will add considerably to the shipments ot bullion from Pi-oche. Pi-oche. Havana. At a depth of 270 leet fioni the surface, a drift has been opened on both bides of the shaft following fol-lowing the lino of the ledge. The eastern is in sixteen aud the western twenty-five feet. The face of both is occupied entirely by tho ledge, most of which is good milling ore. The work of sinking the incline ia carried on as speedily as possible. It follow the fool wall of the ledge. The exact width oi the lead is not known, for the hanging wall has not been reached. reach-ed. In an endeavor to find it a cut was made in the shaft some few feet below the point wiiore the levels arc commenced, luis opening was car-1 ried in a distauce of twelve feet from the foot wall; but the hanging wall was not reached. This cut, which was entirely in ledge matter, showed some splendid ore, some assaying from J200 to o'00 per ton. In fact the great mass of this immense ledye looked as if it were excellent milling urc. A gepd whim haa been erected over the slLaft, and by its means eight or ten tons of ore are being hoiskd daily, aptl is buing piled uu the dump. American I'lao. At this mine all ' is activity aud bustle. Durinz the past week 19-t tons of ore were sent to the mill.Jmaking a total of &'-0 for the month. The mill is now and has been for the past two weeks, running run-ning on the company's own ore. At present no returns have been made uf the results of tho crushing, but su far as at present can be judged, they will be entirely satisfactory, At the mine the main shaft is down 951 leet, and the work of sinking is being steadily proceeded with. Three S-hour shifts huccced each other every twenty-four hours, su not a minute is allowed to go unemployed. On the tenth level, the eastern drift is in ninety-four and the western 2o0 feet in length. The faces in both show a good breadth of excellent ore. Above the ninth level the stopers are busily at work taking out some Tery egoou-iooinng ore, oi which a number of tons is being raised daily. In all respects the mine of late has greatly improved, and seems to be on the high road to pro.s- Serity. J. H. James, the uprrinleif cut, is indefatigable in his endeavors to keep everything going smoothly and to the best possible advantage. PiocHK. The shaft is being sunt ae speedily as possible. It is now 7"0 feet iudtpth. When a depth of 700 feet is attained a station will be opened and adrift commenced, running run-ning directly for tho ledge. The level that is designed to connect with the old works is in 200 feet, and is being pushed with all reasonable speed. A considerable amount of ore is being taken out of the mine Jon shares, which method isbotheilcctual and economical. Wo saw on the dump a pile of some of the richest ore we have seen in l'ioche. Silver Peak. Tho incline haa reached a depth of odO feet. The ledge in the bottom shows a market improvement. Five hundred and fifty feet from tho surface o station hai been opened and a drift commenced, com-menced, following tho line of the ledge. It is in thirty feel; and the fuce of it shows 3 feet of good ore. In all respects the prospects of this mino have very greatly brightened in the last two or three weeks. Chief of the Hill. Work is being expended on the tunnel level and also on the second. The first one is 700 and the second 000 feet in length. Tho faces of these drifts occasionally show somo very rich ore, but at present pres-ent nut iu sufficient quantities tu pay. In the other portions of the mine there is but little duing. Chief Eat Extension. At work resuming the drift which was opened at a point in the shnft 280 feet from the siirliiee. This drift is now in sixty feet. The lace of it shows somo very good ore.
