Show On Thursday afternoon last, July 15th, Prof. Donaldson, accompanied by the icporter of an evening paper, named Grim wood, made an ascension from Birnum's circus grounds at Deaborn park, Chicago, in Barnum'B big balloon. Other reporters had in-J tended to make the trip, but their courage failed them as the time of 1 flight approached. The great air .ship, borne by a fresh southeast wind, floated over the lake at a rapid pace, and before dark was loat to the vision of the Chieagoites. The next day and the next passed without any definite information of the ballon or its occupants, occu-pants, though a vessel that arrived at Chicago on Saturday reported having aoi-ti a body floating upon the water, aud a largo balloon is said to have passed over Canada on Monday evening. As a severe storm provailed on the night of the loth in the lake region, it ia feu-ed that the big ship was hopelessly wrecked and that the two men havft made their last balloon voyage from this planet. |
