Show The D off -Killer Abroad. The relentless dog-huntor is abroad at last,- and fast the canine game la'Js before him. The number of dogs infesting this city is immense, and yet it seems that no one has any to spare. A singular trait in the human family is that which will fondly endure the presence of a horde of hungry, useless curs, while perhaps per-haps the children in many cases are allowed lo go half fed that the dog may live, still tho trait exists and it is no use quarreling with those who possess it, and yet the public weal demands de-mands that some steps be taken to prevent great evils growiug out of a too numerous canine population, and hence the usual city ordinances relating thereto. However, we did not commence to write a homily ou ! dogs or city laws, but aierely to chronicle a fact, which is, that somebody some-body is after the dogs not taxed : so if you have one of that kind it will be well to protect him by three dollars in greenbacks and a collar. Query, would the bite of a -inad or other dog with a collar on be less dangerous danger-ous than that of a similar dog without? This question is intended for the law maker of average ability who thinks that the public is safe from hydrophobia hydro-phobia and dog bites aa long as the dogs wear collars and pay taxes! For our part we prefer to sec all dogs restrain ed from running at large during the hydrophobic season, and vicious dog; should ho eternally I quieted. |
