Show : " Reed & Bensen. Rich strikes in "Utah mir,es,in these dull times, arejust what are needed to set every one's blood to tingling, and renew hope in despondent breasts. And now, in. the very nick of time, -comes such good news from the Reed i & Benson mine. One of the richest ' bodies of ore yet reached hi the Cot- tonwoods was revealed in this mine just as the old year took his departure. On the six hundred foot-level a strike was made, December 30th, the ore showing sulphide of lead and carbonate carbon-ate of silvor with silicia and lime intervening in-tervening between tho chimnoys. The ledge between tho walls is seventy feet in width, four foet of it being a solid mass of ore without gangue, or refuse rock, sampling over a thousand ounces oun-ces in silver to the ton. Several specimens spec-imens from this strike have been brought to the office of the company in Kimball Block. These assay as high as $3,000. We congratulate the , fortunate owners of tho Reed & Ben-, son, and hope to record like good luck for a few other mines before many months elapse. The Reed & Benson are now shipping ten tons a day, and Uncle George Norton, the superhaten- 1 dent, is correspondingly happy. |
