Show FOREIGN. . atritisli News. London, 9. Five thousand dollars reward is offered for the apprehension of Alexander Collie. A special to the Standard from Glasgow reports that sixty rioters, many of whom were badly hurt, were brought before the magistrates yesterday morning and remanded to jail. Rioting broke out again in the suburbs on Monday, and the volunteers volun-teers and regulars were ordered to be ready, but the disturbance was quieted by the reading of the riot act. It is remarked that mobs of Catholics, armed with hatchets, steel knuckles and knives, are organized and acting under leaders. It is reported that several of the men in custody are head centres. The gentlemen of the American rifle team and friends arrived here from Paris. Several of the party will visit Sir Henry Halford to-morrow, at VVistow Hall, his country seat in Leicestershire, where they will meet a number of distinguished euests. Ou Thursday all go to Liverpool and embark homeward on the City of Berlin. Ber-lin. Sir Chas. Adderly's ahipping bill, to-day, passed its second reading in the house of lords. |
