Show Police Court, In the police court, yesterday, business bus-iness was unusually lively, the immediate imme-diate result of Christmas. Eight men were arraigned on the charge of drmikenness, and each paid jto tor his escessiye indulgence. One, who was guilty of profane swearing, as well as being drunk, was fined $10; while two others were mulcted in like sums for disturbing the peace. ... A yagrant was sentenced to ten days labor on the public streets, William Nelson and Charley Johnson, John-son, two .'thieves from Sacramento, broke into the house of Mr. M. Hol-den Hol-den in the Ninth Ward, and stole a numher of articles of value, among which was a watch. They were each fined $100 and sentenced to three month's imprisonment. Lacking the necessary funds with which to pfiy the fines, they will work out the amounts am-ounts on the streets. |
