Show Indian Itnid Iiupendlug;. Omaha, 31. Great apprcnensions are expressed by the owners of large herds of cattle which range between North and South Platte, and the settlers set-tlers who live north of the Union Pacific railroad, and on the Republican, Repub-lican, of a general raid from Red Cloud and Spotted Tail's bands of Sioux, and from Cheyennes,Dakotahs, Arrapahoi-s and others combined. The supply of beef furnished those 1 ndi.ins being nearly or quite exhausted, ex-hausted, and there being no money with which to purchase more, they must deprf date on the settlements or starve. These bands number over 30,000, and would laugh at the handful hand-ful of cavalry at Fort Fetterruan and Fort Laramie. A large cattle owner and contractor now here corrolwrates the report that the supplies will soon be exhausted. |
