Show Theatre. Last night Miss Kathcrine Rogers 1 added another to her list of triumphs, : in the personation of Julia, in the 1 "Hunchback." From the unsophisticated unsophis-ticated country Ctrl in tho first act, 1 unused fo the ways of the town and its allurements, to tho fully developed woman in the last acts smarting under, wrongs, the o!Tpring of love and pride, she fully sustained the varied emotions and passions of tho character, char-acter, and delivered the ardent speeches with a force and power rarely equaled. Altogether her rendering of the pnrt was a success, and the audience testified their gratification by frequent bursts of applause and by calling her before the curtain at the end of the fourth and last acts. Miss Adams appeared to much advantage ad-vantage as Helen, giving a most pleasing and satisfactory rendering ol the part. Mr. Vinson 'as Master Wulter was most acceptable, and we doubt if a finer interpretation of this most difficult character was ever witnessed in this city. Mr. Sawtelle as Sir Thomas looked and acted the part well, and Mr. Crosbic as Fathom was all that couid be desired. Some of the minor parts needed more study; I the young gentlemen of the company cannot "wing," even a few lines of Sheriden Knowles' composition, they must sleep on it, and then find it ( difficult to retain. This evening Houcicault's new play of "Mimi" will be presented for the first time in this city, and as most everything that this celebrated author has given to the stage has proved successful, we look for a treat in the production of "Mimi." Tlie piece is a full one, and tho strength of the company appears in the cast. The lovers of new plays will have an attraction at the Theatre tflHiighl. |
