Show LrGERDrMAis c. SpianTAXisM. We have an abiding faish that if Fpirit un't employ their tiuiC any better than by toting round the oouatry tying and untying fellows in cabinets, they had better sell out and quit the bosi-neap. bosi-neap. Consequently we have no idea that the Davenport Brothers were tied and untied in their cabinet by any such agency. Last night when Mr. Bosco announced that he would do the Davenport tying trick, and invited a eo mm it tee on the stage to tie him, some gentlemen stepped np, among them Dr. Coogarwho traveled some time with the Davenports. The latter gentleman proposed to tie Mr. Bosco with a rope he carried with him, which Beeoo declined to permit, unless un-less the rope was cut in lengths about the same as those he is accustomed to use. He averred that this is what the Davenports do, but Dr. Congar said he had tied them with a rope carried by himself and in;his own way; and that he had sat in their cabinet with them arjd held their hands while the affair was going on. The Doctor was positive, but polite; Mr. Bosco : was equally positive and decidedly ' rough indeed, we might Bay rude, accusing ac-cusing the gentlemen of being spiritualists, spirit-ualists, when nothing of the kind had been mentioned. As it is, or should be, well understood that Boeco Lys no claim to spiritual agencies in the matter, we think he could have made his point much more effectually bad he been more courteous, and his subsequent subse-quent trick would have been none the less well received. |
