Show Latest from the Diamond Be-OtON. Be-OtON. Yesterday wo perused a letter from Mr. Savage, of the diamond exploring ex-ploring expedition, dated Fort Win-gate, Win-gate, New Mexico, November 10th, io , which he statoa that he had made what he considered valuable locations. But while on tho ground, a band of from two to thrco hundred Ute Indians, well mounted and armod, rode up to them and ordered them to leave or fight. As Mr. Savage's party consisted only of himself and three others, they oonsidered discretion the better part of valor, and left. Mr, Savage thinks of returning to the scene of his operations opera-tions in the spring, with a party sufficiently suffi-ciently strong to hold the ground against any ordinary forc-o of savages. |
