Show The Yellow Fever. New Orleans, 17. The Picayune special from Shrovcport say3 the numlirr of cases of yellow fever, today, to-day, was less than for several preceding preced-ing days, anil the number fell from 00 yesterday to 2o to-day. It ia not thought, however, that there is any abatement, hut the material for the fever to work on is considerably diminished. di-minished. The number of deaths is fearful to contemplate. The mortality mortal-ity is beyond precedent, and it looks as though but comparatively few would get well. Some linger along between life and death, and in some few instances -whole families have been '-swept out of existence iu the .short space of one week. The sudden sud-den change in the weather, Smiday night,, sent a- lairgo number to their bed, which accounLs for the great number of interments in the lrTst day I or two. |
