Show (liy W. U. Telegraph.) LEGISLATIVE AMENITY. Trenton, N. J., 4. A disgraceful fight took place here this morning, in the lobby of the house. Yesterday in debato, Mr. Carse, called James M. Scoville, a perjured man and a scoundrel. scoun-drel. When Mr. Cole and John HooJ, members, met this morning they engaged en-gaged in a war of words. Scoville came up, aod mixing in the quarrel. Cole called him a liar. He was immediately imme-diately knocked down by Scoville. The speaker ordered the doors to be closed. Before it wes done, Carse rushed into the fi,L;ht. Scoville knocked him down and he was badly punished. It is said, while be was down, that the mayor interposed and prevailed upon Scoville Sco-ville to leave the State house, when tho ti.;ht ended. The affair grew oat of opposition to the bill affecting the disposition of some property now in the courts. Soon a!"ter the fight, both louses adjourned sine dir. |
