West is the chief, en. gaged on the survey of this road, having: completed its location, returned re-turned to this city last night. Thcaurvey commences at llhliard, on the U. P. Ii. li., and runs thence j ! nearly due south 17 7-10 miles, pene-1 (rating the timber lands loeatul by the corporators oi this company. For the first ten miles, south of Milliard, the "survey is nearly on an air-line, with a grade of not over live J feet to the mile and over which the j road bed can be constructed from the J side ditching. Tho balance of the road aUains,"in places, a grade of 100 feet to the mile, but the road it-elf can be cheaply constructed, as there is little cutting or filling, and but one bridge; twenty feet over Mid Creek. Prom south to north, there is an unbroken un-broken descending uradc, over which all heavy I'reightVdl pass. Hence, the 100 feet grade going north, which only empty cars will have to ascend, is of no consequence. Mr. E. 1.
