Show A Fire Yesterday. Yesterday morning, at i 2. fire waa discovered in the office of T I. Johnson, architect, archi-tect, in the Gro- sbeck block, on.SccoDd South ;treet near East 1 em pie, by Me.-srs. Culmer, who broke in the dor finding the room full of tmoke and a blazing fire i-?ulng from a demij iha of whisky. The H"Dj j"hn wa- io a trunk in wh:ch were pa pern and ciothiDg through which the fire had buroid into in-to the floor.foliowtng through the partition par-tition to tbe orScc of Field & Spicer adjoinicg. The fire ia supposed to havo been caused by the ignition of matches in the truck, which were overheated over-heated by ihe stove. It was very fortunately for-tunately dii-overcd before much bead-way bead-way had been gained, and extinguished by Wo.ter.from a couple of barrels standing stand-ing in the entry way. An alarm waa given and the steamer was on hand ready for a:tion, in some ten minutes thereafter, with full bead of steam, but the fire bciog subdued by the Messrs. Culmer?, was not called into service. It is gratifying to noto so great promptness on the part of the Ore department. |
