Show SCHOOL. EXCCB8IOX. Yesterday the deferred school excursion excur-sion to Draper came o5", fur those who had failed to secure a share in the previous pre-vious one. Ten cars left the depot by !thc Utah Southern line at 7:15 a.m., a brass band accompanying, dijeouriiog music through the city, among other airs playing the appropriate one of j "The May Queen." Tho day wa lovely, the company not too numerous, and everybody manifested a desire to j have a season's fine enjoyment. Leaving Leav-ing the railway the excurtionist? marched in procession to Draper school houie, where they found a handaome bowery erected, sheltered on i the south from the sun, and with the j windows of the school houie removed, 'so that the music of the band could be enjoyed for dancing under tho bowery and the school room as well. Then there was dancing, and games and amusements of various kinds, freely participated in by all; there were racings, rac-ings, and Einging, and more dancing, and a general time of ec-joy ment Bishop Stewart, of Draper, his counselor, and the good ladies of the settlement were attentive, kind and hospitable, and everything passed off in the moat pleasant manner. The company arrived in town by the seven o'clock train, and tho countenances coun-tenances of the little ones showed how much they had enjoyed themselves The marshals of the day were Messrs. Maeser, Benedict and Morgan, superintendent super-intendent R. L. Campbell accompanying accompany-ing the excursionists. |
