Show PACIFIC COAST KEWiS. j CALIFORNIA. Bantas, 26. The through passenger train passsing this station at 11:30 a.m. to-day, jumped off the track this side of San Joaquin bridge. There is thought to be but eight or ten persons : i wounded. The brakeman wassoverelv injured, probably fatally. A lady and two Cinnamon were seriously injured, the car occupied by senator Morton and escort was the only one not thrown off the track. Five cars were turned over and badly smashod, Ir. Thorn- ! son was on tho train, and rendered prompt assistanco to a number of the wounded. . Tho accident happened at the same place where tho westward bound express ran off last year. A loose tio ia said to. bo tho causo. The section man tried to Btop the train, but had no flag and failed. A German named Sewall, living near Ellis station, had both legs broken. Los Angeles, 29.-Thc Chinaman who commenced tho shooting on Tuesday Tues-day night was captured to-day. The coroner's inquest adjourned until tomorrow. to-morrow. Four arrests of rioters were made this afternoon, direct testimony implicating them in being concerned in hanging the Chinamen. A special grand jury is ordered to meet on the 31st inst. Some of the prominent rioters left the city to-day. Stockton, 20. A wrecking train of the C. P. 11, R. left here at 3:30 p.m. for the scene of to-day's disaster. Attached At-tached to tho train was a sleeping car to bo used in removing the passengers to Sacramento. The names of the parties injured by the railroad accidont to-day are Jno. Livinsky, Woodland, San Joaquin county, cut severely in the left temple and bruised about the body. Edward Ryan, a severe scalp wound and bruisea of face and back; G. li. Carter two fingers broken;. J. L. Jaw-oory, Jaw-oory, bruised badly about the body, Meginson, compound fracture of the leg; Chas. Ryan, brakeman, slightly bruised about the head and shoulders; Mrs. Machell, bruised on the back and hips; Dr. Moorej Santa Clara, slightly cut on the chin; Mrs. H. Burton, Eureka, Eu-reka, ' Humboldt county, slightly bruised; child ot Mcliaker, Oregon, shoulder broken; A: Brownson, San Joaquin, cut face and head; Schall, bruised badly about the head; N. C. Baker, concussion of tho spine and wound in the head. It woa thought i he would die, but he will probably ro-' cover. Francis Bruett, colored, who escaped es-caped from Carson was arrested here last night. Jos. Churchill, convicted of grand larceny, was sentenced to-day to ihe State prison lor six months; Thos. Carr, for house breaking, two years. |
