Show j The Cannihai.s. The representatives representa-tives of the Fiji cannibals have arrived. ar-rived. They arc at the skating rink, Richards' hall, where they can be seen to-day only. They consist of three males and a female. Two of the males I arc young chiefs, stalwart fellows, with j shining skins, their clothing being a ! little more extensive than that of the j Columbia belle whoso lull dress consisted con-sisted of a nosc-pendant and one gar- tcr. The other masculine cannibalistic ; representative isoflilliputian growth, a j genuine dwarf, with a fair show of ' beard, a remarkable power of whoop, and an agility that is displayed to advantage ad-vantage in tho war dances. The woman is a live princess, the daughter, or other near relative of king something, who reigns over various and sundry tribes of the man-eating natives. These I Fijian aristocrats can tell by cx-i cx-i perience, the difference between i baited fat man aud broiled lean man; ! they have tried it, and we presume j would turn up their noses at the haud-; haud-; iwork of any swineaoide in the country, j Their singing is suggestivo of the primitive note, as it is always on one I key and doesn't seem to Viry a semi- tone; and their dancing is full of fight. There is a fine display of Fijian speci-j speci-j mens in the hall, which Mr. George lioync, the lecturer, describes lucidly 1 and fluently, telling many interesting items of the manners, customs, habile , and court etiquette of tho royal and '. naked savages. The exhibition will be open during the diy, and closes to-night. |
