Show As Hekoue. Our attention is di-iccted di-iccted to the press dispatch from this city, of last Thursday, with a request that we give it contradiction. The most objectionable paragraph reads; Kiuhty persons, majority Mormons, publish a call for a Democratic convention conven-tion next Monday, to organize a Territorial Terri-torial central committee and other business. Some names are the same as on the Republican primai r. The above contains two sentences, and each sentence embodies an unmitigated unmiti-gated falsehood. There are eighty signers to that call, and as near as we can figure them out, having a tolerably tolera-bly extensive acquaintance with the men, "twenty-one arc Mormons and fifty-nine Gentiles. "That is falsehood number one. The assertion that "some names arc the same as on the Republican primary" is also wholly without a particle of truth in fact, plain people who were more inclined to state facts tersely than to study politeness, polite-ness, would designate it a lie of the tirst water. There is no name on the call that is on the Republican primary. Hut this is the usual style in which that press institution is run from this city. |
