Show Destruction by ttte Storm. During the storm last night a concrete barn, 20 a 3'.), two stories high, belonging be-longing to S. W. Sears, Esq., on the north, honch, 20th ward, .was blown ; down, burying two young men, broth- j era to Mr. Scars, a span of horses, a span of mules and a cow. Mrs. Sears rushed down town to the E.igle Emporium, Empo-rium, where her husband. was, who immediately started for home: When ho arrived, one of the young men had been got out by those who had assembled assem-bled to assist, and the other was soon after recovered. Neither was killed, but both were injured, one of them being seriously crushed. The horses, mules and cow were killed, and the loss is over a thousand dollars. To tho energetic exertions of officer Wm. Hyde, who was present, and a number num-ber of otlnr activo gentlemen, the brothers Sears undoubtedly owe their lives; and to alt who assisted on the occasion Mr. Soars returns his warmest acknowledgement'?. -I Oflicer Hyde, a little later, extinguished extin-guished a (ire in the same locality that threatened the destruction of the building where it occurred. |
