Show A Palpable Hit. The "Chronicles "Chroni-cles of Congress" of the Wasbington Capital, for last week, contain the following fol-lowing under the caption "The Litter day Saints :" Mr. Cragin reported the bill to aid in the execution of the law against polygamy po-lygamy from tho committee on Territories, Terri-tories, with an amendment, which was ordered to be printed, and the bill was recommitted. It is probable that the laws of the United States will be easy of execution not only in Utah but elsewhere else-where in proportion as they are just. When Congress can frame a law which will effectually prevent one of its members mem-bers from keeping a concubino in the District of Columbia, or punish him if ho disobeys the mom her aforesaid having a wife at home it will be in a tit legal and moral condition to try its hand at reclaiming tho polygamous husbands of Deseret. |
