Show The Saleratus Claim. Mr. Thomas McDonald paid us a visit yesterday yes-terday afternoon, and courteously reported progress ou the saleratus ; lake, located by himself and Mr. Perkins, Per-kins, of the Carson, Nevada, Register. We have been interested in this location loca-tion from the first not financially, alack, for mines, claims and location? never come to our doors but because we know the lake, having cut a sack of saleratus cakes from it one September Septem-ber night several years ago, and slept afterwards under the shadow of Independence Inde-pendence Rock. Mr. McDonald brought into town with him a sack of tho material, and having just returned from a visit to the lake, he is thoroughly thor-oughly satisfied of the excellence of tho article and the immense quantity that can be obtained. He confirms in the strongest terms the statements published in yesterday morning's Herald, from our Rawlins correspondent, concerning the new mines. They are known as tho Semi-noo Semi-noo Mines, which should be written Simoneaux, being the name of a Frenchman who one time figured iu that region. Some of the ore has been assayed, yielding $150 in silver to the ton, and a large percentage of galena. Mr. McDonald leaves again this morning for Rawlins, where he expects to bo joined in a few days by Mr. Perkins. GILLET'S EXTKACTS aro always I reliable. adv |
