Show SciENni-ic Party. Prof. 0. C. Marsh and tho scientific party under his command, have been speuding several sev-eral days in nnd around the ''bad lauds' south of Bridger. The Professor Profes-sor is in ees'acie.s over the success the party is meeting with in discovering the fossil remains of a variety of extinct? animals, plainly showing the existence j at a very early day of a vast fresh water lake in this basin. Numerou specimens of crocodiles, rhinoceros, eutolodon, serpents, turtles, and many other smaller animals have rewarded their researches. Specimens of crocodiles croco-diles measuring ten feet; turtles from six inches to three feet in diameter, of different kinds; with many new and interesting animals not heretofore do-scribed, do-scribed, are now being discovered. The Professor thinks that this is one of the best spots f...r the lovers of paleon-! tology that he knows of. From this : locality the party will proceed to Green River, following down the banks to Wh te River. The banks each side of Green River offer a rich field for their examination, and great results may be looked for as a result of their efforts. The Professor is one of those enthusiastic enthu-siastic naturalists who lead the rau in all the scientific exploration? of the prrsent day; crawling on his hands and knees on a steep bank, soru-tiniz soru-tiniz ng closely every relic that may appeara ap-peara small tooth that would be of no value to a common observer, will inspire him with the greatest amount of pleasure. The operation of a party of scientific "bone gatherers" offers a' source of amutement to idlelookers-on. ; From Green river the party will visit j our valley to spend two or three day.- , before going to California. U e be: ! speak for them welcome from our ; citizens. Their researches will .end to ; throw great light upon the gc -logics 1 , character of the great interior west, j I lready they have accumulated an iuj- j ruense collection of extinct animal re- j mains, extending over the country from the Lmp Fork westward. , I The following gent!m"n r--npr..- ! the pprty: Director, 0- C Marsh, Pivler ot I Paleontolrsv in Yale CoUeec As-1 As-1 slants and volunteer,: E'd Whitney, i Jr New Haven; George P..
