Show On Dear ! We were informed yes terday several times that we were in some kind of danger of being "hauled ud" for publishing a letter in yesterday morning's Herald reflecting on the conduct of a juror. Some folk have become awful touchy ; particularly when they strut around and blow off superabundant gas on such items. If our correspondent stated what was not correct, prove it ! That's all, and the best way of setting it at rest. As for our paper, we wish it plainly understood under-stood that the Herald knows no distinction dis-tinction higher than a citizen of the United States, and will criticise the conduct of any public servant when necessary, asking no fear, favor or odds of any one. And we wish it further understood that the liberty of the press is a fundamental principle of republican republi-can institutions, which no self-inflated individual can detrov. |
