Show CONTEMPLATED CITY IMPROVEMENT. IM-PROVEMENT. ' . By the following circular it will be seen that a city improvement is contemplated con-templated in the bhape of a new hall, for which the funds are expected to come from the East and West. We must congratulate the "move" on its . . official endorsers. As the circular speaks for itself, comment is needless at present : circular. ; " Executive Office, Salt Lake City, Utah, Aug. 9, 1870. j To whom it may c)ncern:-The bearer of this, Mr. W. 11. Shearman, has been appointed to solicit donations in aid of ' the completion of a large hall or meet ing house for the use of the reform and : liberal party in Salt Lake City. Hav ing been here a considerable time, I ' have seen the practical good accom- ' plished by this reform movement. - They have thus far, at great pecuniary , loss to a few individuals of the move ment, kept in existence a live and energetic ener-getic paper that has done more to weaken the power of the Mormon Church than all other agencies com- ! bined. The hall spoken of is a positive ; secessity, as ihe friends of the move ment can control no hall of sufficient . size to hold the hundreds that would be ; glad to hear their teachings, and I most earnestly appeal to every philanthropist philan-thropist and Christian man to aid these i people (who already have sacrificed so much) in this good work. Respectfully, J. W. Seiajfer, Governor U. T. To which the following have attached their signatures: S. A. Mann, Secretary of Utah Territ'y. C. M. Hawley, Associate Just. Sup.. Ct. Dr. J. I. To the Friend of Liberty and Rt-form: Rt-form: The .New Movement Reformers Reform-ers of Utah are the first who have organized or-ganized a successful opposition to the "one man power" ot the Mormon Priesthood. They have already done much in throwing the country open to capital and enterprise and they were foremost, as a body, in the advocacy of the Mineral Development of the Territory. Terri-tory. The change in public sentiment , which they have already effected is very great. They are contending for the rights and liberties of all classes of American citizens. Ah all are aware, every possible effort is used by the "Priesthood" to crush them and defeat de-feat their object. Having lavishly expended ex-pended their own means in publishing . and otherwise prosecuting their important im-portant work, they now need some help in the erection of a suitable Meeting! . IIou.e. We consider the erection of such a house an important etep at the present j time, and one calculated for the welfare of all classes resident in Utah. For these reasons we have consented to act as a committee to receive means for this purpose, and any donations will be thankfully received. Walker Hro's. , Marshall & Carter, Samuel Kahn.
