Show SMALL POX 1NM0RGAN COUNTY. We had calls yesterday from two citizens of Morgan county, relative to the article in yesterday morning's JIkhai.d on contagious diseases; and have received the following communication, communi-cation, by which we are pleased to learn that the U. P. officers adopted every necessary precaution in carrying the sick man from Ogden to Morgan city : Editor Sal Lake Uemhl : Dear Sir: I am informed that the U. P. R. sent a special engine and bos car with young Murphy and lett the car upon the track, so that they are entirely free from censure I am pleased that you are writing on the subject. If something is not done to cheek and confine the disease, we will have plenty of it in this city. You will do the public great good to stir up the people. Respectfully, J. C. Lithe. P. S. I think it would be wbdom for the corporation to send the quarantine quar-antine physician, Dr. Jeter Clinton, to look after the matter and give direc tions to prevent it spreading. J. C. L. Col. Little's suggestion, re!ative-to sending Dr. Clinton to look after the matter, we commend to the consideration considera-tion of the municipal authorities. From the geDtlemen from Morgan county, we learn that there are three cas.'s of small-pox in Morgan city, beside.-the one th it has recovered; but the affected persons have been removed to the hospital provided, where they are properly cared for, and every precaution pre-caution has been adopted to prevent the spread of ihe disease. At Milton there is one case, and the people there are preparing a place for an hospital. At Weber city, where it is said the disease first made its appearance, there are some cases, but the people do net i-eem to see the necessity of .separating the affected ones from those who have not yet been attacked. It is to be hoped this feeling will not lontj hold, but that the people of that settlement will realize the virulent and contagious character of the disease, before it spreads further and is attended with its usual fearful results. At Mountain Moun-tain Green there are no cases. The county court of Morgan county has taken measures to prevent the contagion conta-gion spreading out of the settlements in which it has appeared. There would be no wisdom in making mak-ing any unnecessary outcry ; but it seems proper that effective measures should be adopted to preserve the public pub-lic health. |
