Show Court of Claim Washington June 24The United I States court of claims today rendered a decision in the famous La Abra case I holding in effect that the award rendered ren-dered against Mexico by Sir Edward Clinton acting as umpire under the I treaty of 186S with Mexico was obtained ob-tained by testimony of a corrupt character char-acter The court of piaims derived jurisdiction jurisdic-tion from a sn8ll act of congress ton iil passed for the purpose of determining I I the charge of fraucl brought by Mexico and made the basis of an application by that government to the United States to return s = o much of the money awarded as remained undistributed in the tatters hands The following Is n I copy of the decree entered In the case II I I to lar to1aThe court finding from the evidence I that the award made by the United I r States and Mexican mixed commission in respect to the claim of said company was obtained as to the whole sum included 1 in-cluded therein by fraud effectuated by false swearing and other false and fraudulent practices on the part of I said company and its agents it Is therefore hereby ordered adjudged and decreed that all claims in law and I equity on the part of the said company com-pany its legal representatives and assigns signs be forever barred and foreclosed of all claim to the money received from the republic of Mexico for or on account ac-count of such award r 5 |
