Show contributed articles A parents attitude toward school what attitude altitude should a parent take toward the school is a very popular one or mean to say it should b botty it true that must most of u us have r i e opinion s upon all A subjects and it is a good thing that we have but at the same 3 time it is not necessary that we should always differ upon all quest questions lons the greatest in good is always accomplished by a common cause to be a unite does not compell people either to sink forever there individuality and bo be led by the nose by everybody not that at all the best society Y however does demand of its personal units a compromise ora or a yielding of his native or natural natura I 1 ri rights 0 for the good of all in no case should one be so presumptions as to take the reins in his bis own hands to the detriment of the many neither should one expect rights and privileges 0 that could not be ostend ox tended ed to all I 1 think that the readers of this article will agree with me that these are plain and homely truths and that they apply as well to school discipline as any ally where all parents should know if they dont already that a teachers trouble always occurs with the children whose parents the teacher and his methods of discipline the pupils whose parents support the teacher and thereby the school never make trouble for themselves or anybody else the evil rests with the parents very seldom with the teacher what do you think of a parent who dafies not only the teacher his methods of discipline but the rules of the county which have been formulated by the trustees and superintendent parents me to respect and obey law school law and as a result I 1 never had trouble with the teacher neither did they I 1 could not disobey at school and for such be protected at home what do you think of a parent paren t who demands a teacher to extend courtesies and privileges leges to his child that are denied and even forbidden by law to others would this same parent be willing in to live under and support civil laws that did not apply tu to al all i of course lie ho aou would ld not yet this is the attitude altitude assumed to lo W rd school law wo we have in our community a case that can justly be credited with all these absurdities A boy played truant and on his return to school the teacher repeated the rule to him that must be enforced in cases of truancy and sent him on his way here the father intervened in the boys behalf and undertook to set aside si de the rule after halkiu talking 0 with the teacher trustees and superintendent in and finding that they all stood pat for the rule and for the principle that lehat weare we are all created free and equal and that special must be granted to none lie he withdrew his boy from school t in this parti particular eu lar case he set himself up as sole and final judge upon what should and should not be school discipline the rule is enforced throughout the county and in the salt lake city schools to the very letter surely if it is good enough for them we on ht not to complain should the policy of this parent be carried it would wreck and ruin anyan any and devery every school in the land what a great thin thing it is that this is the ear exception ep and not the rule secure discipline at home be no more trouble at school PARENT J |
