| Show I THE HALL OF RELICS The Formal Opening Took Place Place Last Evening I INTERESTING EXHIBITS OF SOUVENIRS SOU-VENIRS OF PIONEER DAYS An Address By Judge Colborn Helds Band I Attendance The Chief Credit Due to Hon Spencer Clawson The formal opening of the Hall of Relics took place last night and although al-though the exhibit was small compared com-pared with what it will be when allis in smooth running order the attend ance was very large and those who ven visited the classic building were greatly 1 interested In the display Helds band I was in attendance and discoursed music throughout the early evening II while Judge Colborn made an appropriate appro-priate address i The building a reproduction of the buiding reproducton I Parthenon at Athens although erected for temporary purposes is a beautuvl building and excites intense admiration I I admira-tion In front is Dallins famous i i statue The Signal of Peace Inside I the snowy white pcrtico is a list of the first pioneer band with a star opposite I the name of each survivor On either i I side of the entrance is a cannon relics of pioneer days and inside thers J I already quite an extensive exhibit of j relics The moat interesting of 011 perhaps are the relics of the late I BrIgham Young which include some c his books the last suit of clothes made for him articles of furniture that he used in his office and the two wagons I used by him on his journey to Utah That famous piece of artillery the Old Sow occupies a conspicuous place in the hall Elsewhere are shown all sorts of relics of the earlY I days The exhibit will be largely augmented when the pioneers come in for the Jubilee as they will bring with them I all sorts of relics I The hall will be one of the most in creating features of this Jubilee I season and the credit for I belong to Hon Spencer Clawson who con caived the idea and worked indefatigably indefatig-ably r to carry it out |
