Show DELUGED BY TWO CLOUDBURSTS Neosho and Seneca Mo Scenes of Death RESIDENCES SWEPT AWAY AT LEAST TWENTYEIGHT PEOPLE IVILE Flood Will Doubtless Prove to Be Much Worse Than at First Reported Re-ported Water From Four Feet to Six Feet Deep in Every Business House Wires Down and Information Informa-tion Meagre KANSAS CITY Mo May 30A special spe-cial to the Times from Neosho Mo says sayTwo Two cloud bursts occurred in this county at an early hour this morning one at this place and one at Seneca One life was lost here and twenty seven at Seneca Sylvester Wood was drowned by the overturning of a boat while being taken tak-en from the flooded district Dead at Seneca Mrs Robinson and child T J Williams and family of five Mrs Soebler of Carthage and her three children H Andreaux and family of five Carl Schmidt and family of five Missing Buchan and Cross White Whie Mr Anderson and family of the Day ton Rolling mills Rev Harry B White and wife of Seneca Two buildings were swept away at this place but the loss was slight The damage to crops and furniture is great as many houses are flooded The condition of Seneca Is pitiful It piUful I is a town of 1200 inhabitants sixteen miles west of here and is situated in a vale The water extended from bluff to bluff and was from four to six feet deep in every business house Many buildings were washed away among them being the building of the Seneca Dispatch together with the office A number of residence houses were also swept away The M E Church South was carried several blocks Rev Harry White and wife of the M E ohunch were In the Dispatch office and both are missing Carl Schmidt and Crl Shmidt family of five were swept away A Ir Robinson with her child clasped to her were found in a drift both dead The family of T J Williams five are mis sing also Mrs Doebler and three chil dren of Carthage and the family chi famIy Andreaux jeweler five in all Buchan and Cross White Mr Anderson and family of Dayton roller mills six miles east of Seneca are missing and sup posed to be drowned The wires are down and all informa infora tion is brought by messenger I is thought twentytwo people lost their lives in and near Seneca The Frisco road has two bridges out near Dayton and Seneca and much track washed away A report has just been received from Seneca that nine bodies have been recovered re-covered but nne names could not be ascertained I is thought the flood is much worse than atfirs reported The los to property will reach 150000 |
