Show The Politic Club at Murray Friday evening about 30 members of the Politic club and their friends went to Murray to meet the Murray Literary society in joint debate The question discussed was Resolved That the Railroads Should Be Owned and Controlled Con-trolled by the Government The Murray Mur-ray society represented by Messrs Copeland Gaufln and Sanders assumed the affirmative and the Politic club represented by Messrs Fowler Matthews Mat-thews and Morgan supported the negative neg-ative The decision of the judges who decided without consultation was four negative one affirmative After a short musical and literary programme the opera house was cleared and dancing Indulged In nearly 75 couples participating partici-pating until the small hours of the morning The affair was a success both socially and financially and the Politic club is much elated over the victory An announcement was made that Warren Foster who was present would give a talk on the railroad question at the opera house next Saturday evening when he would answer all the arguments argu-ments advanced by the speakers for the negative |
