Show ANNUAL flEETING the of the Potomac Society of tlC Army Now in Session at Hnrliiijxton BURLINGTON Vt Sept 16The annual an-nual meeting of the Society of the Army nua of Potomac is In progress In this city tomorrow Following and will continue through lowing the meetings of the various corps this morning and parade this afternoon there was a business meeting at 4 oclock Troy N Y was selected as the place of Try the next meeting by a vote of 8 to 2 for Nashville and 2 for Cleveland Ohio General William I Henry thof Burlington was elected president with a vlcepresl 6 dent from each corps in the society General Horatio King of New York was reelected recording secretary General Samuel Truesdeh of New Yorlt was reelected re-elected treasurer and Dr C W Scott of Boston was eected corresponding secretary secre-tary The Howard opera house was I filled to overflowing this evening for the public exercises Welcoming addresses were made by Governor Woodbury and I Mayor Peck General John E Lockman of New York in behalf of the society responded I i thanking the people of Burlington for the handsome manner In which they had been entertained Captain Jack Crawford I Craw-ford delivered an appropriate poem which was loudly applauded General Orlande Smith of Batimore then delivered the address of the evening taking for ht3 I theme From the Army of the Potomac to the Army of the Cumberland Short speeches were then made by General O I O Howard General E Brooks and General Gen-eral Averll |
