Show MRI l ANNA1 RfSINS AS A MEMBER OF THE OMAHA EXPOSITION COMMISSION i Notification That the Exposition Officials Of-ficials will Expect Pay For Space Progress Being Made I the Various Va-rious Departments TransMississippi and International Exposition commission held a meeting at the residence of Hon P H Lannan yesterday afternoon All of the commissioners com-missioners were present Chairman Shurtliff reported that he and George D Pyper had visited Omaha for the purpose of looking over the space to be occupied by Utah exhibits ex-hibits with the view of ascertaining the surroundings so that plans might be formed for the construction of booths The Omaha exposition officials are determined to charge for space for ex hlhla ni < In fhn Tth nYYInn i a former session had declared against paying for space Mr Shurtliff was anxious to preseht the matter before be-fore the commission to decide what was to be done The appropriation is insufficient to properly care for the exhibits and pay for space and expect to compete with states which have probably prob-ably CO000 or 40000 to expend With the commission the question is a serious ser-ious one and the suggestion was finally fin-ally made that a finance committee appointed to solicit means or induce some of the mines and business men to aid in the matter and so uphold Utahs reputation reputaton Mr Lannan said that owing to the pressure of business affairs he was compelled to resign from the commission commis-sion and had sent his resignation to Governor Wells Ir Lannan stated that he was willing ip aid the commission commis-sion in any way1 possible In the future Mr Cutler reported matter progressIng progress-Ing in the manufacturing department as well as could be expected Mr Ben nion also reported favorably In his department the agricultural and horticultural hor-ticultural Mr Don Maguire Is now in southern Utah collecting samples for the mineral department He has already al-ready collected about a carload of ores which are being stored In Ogden ready for shipment Mr Pyper was present and discussed plans for booths |
