Show THAT REORGANIZATION GOT Evans TalUs About the Alleged U P Scheme Brief reports have been received regarding re-garding Governor Evans views on that alleged scheme to reorganize the Union Pacific system under one management man-agement His entire statement as given in the Denver News is of interest on account of the decision at Portland yesterday The press dispatches have stated that the Union Pacific reorganization committee contemplated a move which would again place under one manage agan road and all ment the Union Pacific al its branches as was the case before separate receivers were appointed for the various branches ExGovernor John Evans was yesterday asked his opinion of the proposed change and in reply stated that he had no opinion to information of express a he had no informaton any such intention and knew nothing of the plan upon which the union of I interests was to be effected As for the reorganization committee he was of the opinion that there was none as that committee was dissolved last year when it failed to submit a plan upon which the various roads could ba brought into one combination A matters now stand Congress is the only body that can take any steps in the matter and the only intimation he had that any such move was contemplated I contem-plated was contained in the meager press dispatches Since time old combination was broken up and the various lines began doing business on their own account a marked improvement tooth in efficiency and the amount of business done has I allowed Ito I been noted Instead of being alaed to remain stagnant and made to act only as builders up of traffic for the Union Pacific road the various lines I have improved their facilities have I done a larger amount of business and dne have materially increased their revenues reve-nues This was never more manifest than during the past week when thousands thou-sands of eastern visitors availed them II selves of the opportunity to enjoy some of the finest scenery in Colorado sme il comfort and safety The developments develop-ments along the Fort Worth the South Park and the Colorado Central lines are notable instances The benefits of separate operation extend beyond the properties immedi i ately concerned as tne state pronts as well By opening up the Alpine tunnel three towns thriving before the I Union Pacific gained control but since almost forsaken have again become active Five mills have been made available and a large amount of mineral min-eral land can now be worked to profit and new fields thrown open to the prospector The result will be a largely increased mineral output and employment employ-ment for hundreds of miners |
