Show A i RAILWAY RTJMOH A j rumor having been sbarted that the Rio Grande Western would form a close alliance with the Midland as against the Rio Grande railway some feeling has been excited In Denver in reference to the passenger and freight traffic from that city to Salt Lake But the Denver News does not take any stock in the report It reasons that though the Western occupies a strong position in reference to the other two roads it will not invite competition by failing to remain entirely en-tirely independent as between its two connecting lines It has a fine roadbed road-bed and a perfect equipment capable of handling many times the volume of I I traffic which it carries to and from the lines terminating at Grand Junction Junc-tion So long as it can do this it will not run the risk of losing any portion of its business by compelling either the Midland or the Rio Grande to extend to Salt Lake The News says That the Rio Grande would be compelled com-pelled to build to Salt Lake were it discriminated against by the Western is a fact readily understood by the Western management which is not surpassed in railway acumen by any management in the country President Palmer and General Manager Dodge built the Denver and Rio Grande as well as the Rio Grande Western Mr Ristine worked on both of them under the PalmerDodge management and thus all these gentlemen need not be > informed that the fair and Independent conduct which has heretofore marked the policy of the Western is the best for all concerned and The News believes lieves that they are too wise to depart from it |
