OFF FOR SYRIA WASHINGTON Aug 16 Acting Secretary Secre-tary of the Navy McAdoo received a cable this morning from Admiral Kirkland Kirk-land commanding the European squadron squad-ron announcing that the cruiser Marble head had sailed from Gravesend for Gibraltar Gib-raltar on her way to Syria I is probable proba-ble that the Marblehead will make only a short stay at Gibraltar whence she will proceed to Syria where her commander com-mander will be expected to cooperate with Minister Terri in the Investigation of the outrages on the American missions of Tarsus and Marsovan The Marble head will afford a place of refuge also for such of the Americans as desire a place of safety JUSTICE STRONG ILL WASHINGTON Aug Information received here by the family of Justice Strong of the superior court retired now at his summer nomo at Lake ilin newaska N Y is that his condition is again very unfavorable
