Show THE ATCHISON Director Gleed Says I Is in Fine Condition NEW YORK Sept 18 Charles S Gleed of Kansas director of A T S F system is at the Holland house He has recently completed a daylight inspection of about 14000 miles of the Atchison system including the mainline I main-line from Chicago to San Diego When asked to give the result of his I I observations Mr Gleed replied The Atchison is in far better shape to do the work required of i now than it ever has been before VicePresident I Robinson the general agent of the receivers ceivers and his managers and superintendents super-intendents have given the closest possible attention to the proper application ap-plication of a considerable sum of money for the betterment of the road A train can be taken today with perfect per-fect safety from Chicago to California at the late of forty miles an hour including in-cluding stops and I am perfectly suro that such a record as that lately made by the New York Central and the London and Edinburgh fast trains could be equalled or beaten long distance dis-tance considered on one or more of the long stretches of fast track between be-tween Pueblo and Chicago The legal complications in the matter of the Chicago terminals seems to have been very satisfactorily adjusted ad-justed so the immense terminal property prop-erty there will be at once under full control of the receivers and afterwards after-wards of the new company In St Louis important changes have been made recently giving St Louis and San Francisco firstclass terminal facilities including their entrance into the new union station by virtue of its own rights |
